TINA BENKO

Director

BA in Dance, Choreography from Dance Academy Ljubljana (2014), MA in Cultural Studies from Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana (2018). Co-author of different dance pieces and projects (Ladies' Coupe, Spacebound, 4 in a row, In Vitro, InSiTu, Civilised Conversation, Illusions/Dellusions, Selfportrait 24, age of aquarius …), dancer in projects of other artists (W. Dorner, J. Burkmar, R. Hribar, J. Masten, K. B. Kavčič, D. Zlatar Frey, L. Zuschlag, M. Giesche, M. Davydova & V. Martynov, V. Osojnik, I. Hørlyck Thomsen). Between 2016 and 2019 she lived and worked as permanent dance artist in Lake Studios Berlin. At the moment she is, beside other performative interests, primarily focused on intensively studying and researching human movement through the lens of the reference system Axis Syllabus. In the last few years she has been additionaly studying Body-Mind Centering® with Nina Wehnert and Snježana Premuš. In 2020, together with Ema Križič she founded an association Wild Birds, Art & Research Institute for Dance and Movement. In the season of 2020/21 she started writing for the department for culture and humanistic sciences of Radio Študent and the platform for contemporary performative arts Neodvisni. She is teaching under the umbrella of Wild Birds IDM and as a guest teacher at Academy for Dance, AMEU in Ljubljana.
